I started figure skating when I was eight. Which is hilarious because I was the biggest tomboy ever. When I was little I liked mud. I liked ninjas. I liked boys ... ew no - not like that. I liked boys as in I always wanted to do what they did. [Don't worry I like boys now] I wouldn't say I wanted to be a boy, I just acted like one. Look at this picture and see if you can figure out which one is me ...

I'm going to assume you figured it out. Yeah -- what happened there? I really don't understand why I was so gross. I bet my mom was so excited that year when I wanted to be a fairy for halloween, until I ended up looking like this. My poor mother only had two daughters, but we weren't very girly.
ANYWAY ... figure skating I know right? My mom was a ballerina and desperately wanted one of her daughters to dance. [Actually she wanted all of us to dance, she made my brothers take ballet.] Well ... I hated ballet, but for whatever reason I LOVED figure skating. So my mom had to settle for a figure skater.

The rink is my sanctuary.
I skated competitively until I was about 17 and then I quit. [dumbest decision I have ever made.] I moved on, went to college, traveled around, lived in Europe blah blah blah ... I never really quit in my heart though. As cheesy as that sounds, it's true. Every time I heard a cool song I always imagined myself skating to it.
August 2009 I found myself in Provo Utah of all places and have rekindle my passion for the sport. Yes it is a sport. And a difficult one at that.
Dictionary: Sport n.
