very few things will get me out of bed at 4:00 am ... happily. a 5 hour plane ride followed by an hour and a half in the car is not one of them. but if all that will get me here ...

i probably won't have any issues waking up, and i didn't.

tuesday morning my sister and i woke up before the sun and flew to cleveland ohio. my brother mitch picked us up and we drove to sandusky ... home of  callahan auto parts AND cedar point: biggest roller-coaster park on american soil. i think. actually i have no idea if that's true. but either way    it.was.awesome.

one of the most awkward experiences is riding a roller-coaster with someone you don't know. seeing as how we were only three ... one of us always had to ride with a stranger when we got on a roller coaster. i rode the gemini with some random kid; mitch and kristen sat in front of us. what is the proper roller-caster riding etiquette? small talk? well i didn't know so i tried to start up a conversation. 

me: have you ever ridden this before?

random dude: yeah

me: cool - is it fun?

random dude: yeah ...

[awkward silence]

we managed to ride 12 rides total. 9 of them were rollercoasters, 1 was ridden twice and 2 other rides, a big swing and one that drops you. not bad for 7 hours. i want to be a kid forrreeeverrrrrr, but the truth is i'm getting old because i felt like CRAP the next morning. i've never been hung-over but i'm pretty sure what i experienced the next morning was pretty close. we stayed in a motel that night and drove to erie pennsylvania the next day to hang out with mitch's family for the weekend.

 

'Surry' de France [i can't take credit for that, my brother made it up]

we rode a surry by the coast of the lake erie. it's basically a four person bike, but we fit seven of us on it.

then we went swimming in the lake that my brother swam across ... lake erie. did i mention that my brother swam lake erie ... 24 miles. 24 MILES

thanks mitch and margie for letting us crash your house for four days! it was awesome. Also thanks kristen for being my favorite sister and letting me come with you! love youuuuu :)
