halb sechs meine augen brennen.

'Imagine that you're out on a weekend. It's late  (or early) -- 5 am. You're drunk. You walk out of the pub ... how do you feel?' Don't worry - my German teacher asked us that in class. After which she proceeded to play a German rap song about Berlin and getting wasted. I don't know what that's like, personally, but I can imagine. The rap song really helped me visualize the experience. Also ... kids keep asking us all to go the bars with them! I over heard one way awkward conversation between a girl in my group and a kid from france. She had to expain about four times that she doesn't drink. Europeans just can't wrap their heads around the fact that we don't drink alcohol. It doesn't make sense to them.

So here's my schedule:
Monday -Friday: 8 am- 1pm German Class at the Goethe Institute
Thursday: 5:00 pm Berlin Culture taught by Dr. Kelling (from BYU)
Everyday after 1 until whenever (except for thursdays) = PLAY TIME!

We BYU students aren't the only ones studying here at the Goethe Institute. We're  among many other people from other countries wanting to learn German as well. My class is taught by Sonja and I'm one of four BYU students in it. The other students are from Italy, Spain, and other parts of the USA.

Besides learning about Germany's favorite past time (getting sloshed) we're learning/refreshing grammar principles. I feel like I'm in the right class, it's taught completely in German and I understand certain principles, but I'm learning others as well. Not like the MTC where I was bored for the first 6 weeks.

After school we got to play!! We went to a Museum. Das Neus Museum ... 'the new museum'. but everything in it was old. haha! We saw ice people bones and skulls and egyptian stuff. the coolest part was Nefertiti, an egyptian queen. I think she and her husband, Pharaoh Akhenaten are known for starting a religious revolution which was to only worship one God. This is what we got to look at ... that is a pciture stolen from the internet b/c we weren't allowed to take photos of it.

That is the Berliner Dom. Pretty cool! Dom means Cathedral in German. I'm standing with Kendra who is from Lenexa Kansas. how random is that? We have a connection ... because of good ole KC!!

Below is the whole Cathedral. Everyday at 6:00 they have Gottesdienst (Mass or a church service.) We're going tomorrow night! Isn't it cool? This picture doesn't do it justice in fact the whole thing won't even load. It's one of my favorite buildings in Berlin.
