... and your bipolar weather.

Well, it's not -25 degrees every anymore. It's 125 degrees and instead of freezing to death we are all burning alive. I shouldn't complain I really like it here despite the weather ... honest!
Look, I'll prove it ...

ha ha ha ... just kidding. Ich LIEBE Berlin. (echt.)

  Holocaust-Denkmal (Memorial)

so from this angel it looks like the ground is completely even, but when you look at the second picture you can see that it isn't. I'm pretty sure this "Denkmal" is supposed to represent the deception of Hitler and how from first glance or far away things looked a certain way, but once you got closer you could see the corruption.

Unter dem Denkmal befindet sich ein Museum. Darin kann man viele Geschichten lesen darüber was damals geschehen ist. Heir ist ein Beispeil:

Letter of a mother to her children after being arrested by the Nazi's and taken away from her kids.
It was a really humbling experience. The entire museum was silent besides the muffled sniffles from people crying.
Niemand kann den Holocaust komplett begreiffen, aber sich darüber informieren soll man.

This is the infamous Brandenburger Tor (Gate), finished in 1791 as a symbol of peace. In 1806 Napoleon actually took the statue that stands on the top of it, but the Germans got in back in 1814. That silly Napoleon, trying to take over the world.

Berliner Dom a.k.a Keri's favorite building in all of Berlin. At least until I find a better one. Which I probably won't because I'm only here for two more weeks. sad ... really sad. the other day I was in a train looking at the window at the beautiful german country side and I got really depressed when I thought about coming home. No offense America, but I think I was born in the wrong country.

"Du wolltest nach Hamburg, Ich nach Berlin ... es wurde Schewrin!"
Schwerin is where Professor Kelling himself grew up, and just so happens to be a gorgeous city. He took us there on June 5th so that we could see his home town!

this picture is for you Dad!

I am just loving my life ... a little too much perhaps, but for those of you who think that my life is just breeze let me please explain to you my scholarly responsibilities whilst in Berlin ...

1. We have a list of over 40 things that we must see in Berlin
2. We must describe a brief history and our impressions of each place.  (i'm almost done I only have to write about ten more places, and I have about three left to see.)
3. I have to read five books ranging from pre-WWII to post WWII ... in german. (I've read one)
4. interview 20 - 30 people who grew up in the DDR. (haven't started but in my defense I just got approval from BYU to conduct this research ... and i just barely got all the info i need to start.)

Don't worry that I have approximately ten days to get all of this done ...  time to get to work.

  1. People who grew up in the... Dance Dance Revolution...? I hear that was a drag to grow up during.

Also you typed angel instead of angle, and that made me think of those song lyrics from 8th grade: Do you want to dance with the angles...

    AWESOME
